Trading commodity options (MCX option chain)
Practise MCX commodity options — calls and puts on Crude Oil, Gold, Silver and more — with a live option chain and virtual money.
Commodity options are calls and puts on MCX commodity futures — buy a call to profit from a rise, a put to profit from a fall. Nifty Paper Trade gives you a live commodity option chain, just like the equity one, with virtual money.
How to trade commodity options
- Open Commodities and select a commodity (e.g. Crude Oil).
- Open the Option Chain tab and pick the expiry.
- Choose a strike; tap B (Buy) or S (Sell) on the call or put.
- Set lots and confirm — it appears in Positions with live P&L.
The commodity chain works the same way as the equity option chain: CALLS on the left, PUTS on the right, strikes down the middle, with the ATM highlighted.
Note on thin strikes
MCX options can be thinly traded, so some far strikes may show an estimated (model) price, marked as dimmed, so you can still practise on them.
