How to use the option chain on Nifty Paper Trade
The option chain shows every strike's call and put price, open interest and more. Learn how to read it and place option trades on Nifty Paper Trade.
The option chain is the heart of options trading — a table of every strike price with its call (CE) on one side and put (PE) on the other, showing the live LTP (last traded price) and open interest (OI) for each. On Nifty Paper Trade it's live, with real NSE prices, and you can trade any strike in one tap.
How to open the option chain
- Open the Terminal and select an index (NIFTY, BankNifty, FinNifty, Midcap, Sensex) or a stock.
- The option chain opens in the right panel with the Option Chain tab.
- Pick the expiry from the pills at the top (weekly or monthly).
How to read it
- CALLS are on the left, PUTS on the right, STRIKE down the middle.
- LTP is the current option price; OI shows how many contracts are open at that strike.
- The ATM (at-the-money) strike — nearest to the spot price — is highlighted, and SPOT shows the live index level.
- Turn on Greeks to see IV, Delta and Theta for each strike.
How to place an option trade
- Find your strike and side (call for up, put for down).
- Tap B (Buy) or S (Sell) on that strike's LTP.
- Set your lots and confirm — the position opens at the live premium and shows in Positions with live P&L.
Every trade uses virtual money, so you can practise reading the chain and trading options with zero risk.
FAQ
What do CE and PE mean?
CE is a Call option (you profit when the price rises); PE is a Put option (you profit when the price falls).
What is the ATM strike?
At-the-money — the strike closest to the current spot price. It's highlighted in the chain and is the most actively traded.
What does OI (open interest) tell me?
Open interest is the number of outstanding contracts at a strike. High OI marks strikes where a lot of positions are concentrated, often acting as support/resistance.
