How to place a buy or sell order

Step-by-step — how to place your first buy or sell order on Nifty Paper Trade, choose lots, pick an order type and confirm.

Placing an order takes a couple of taps. Here's the full flow.

Placing an option order

  1. In the Terminal, open the Option Chain and pick your expiry.
  2. Find your strike and side — call (CE) for an up view, put (PE) for a down view.
  3. Tap B (Buy) or S (Sell) on that strike.
  4. Choose the number of lots.
  5. Pick an order type — Market (instant) or Limit (your price).
  6. Confirm. The position opens and appears in Positions with live P&L.

Placing a stock or futures order

Select the stock/index, choose Buy/Sell, set quantity/lots and order type, and confirm. Futures work the same way with margin.

Placing an order from the chart

With Trade on Chart you can buy/sell straight off the candles — market from the Buy/Sell bar, or limit by tapping a price level.

FAQ

How do I choose how many lots?

Use the lot stepper in the order ticket. One lot = the exchange lot size for that contract (e.g. NIFTY = 75).

Market or limit — which do I pick?

Market fills instantly at the live price; limit waits for your chosen price. See order types.

Where does my order go after I place it?

Into the Positions tab, where you track live P&L and exit.
