When can you paper trade? NSE/BSE equities trade 9:15 AM-3:30 PM; MCX commodities run to 11:30 PM. Full timings and what happens after hours.
Prices on Nifty Paper Trade are live during market hours and static when the market is closed (that's expected, not a bug). Here are the timings.
Equities, indices & F&O (NSE / BSE)
- 9:15 AM - 3:30 PM IST, Monday to Friday
- Pre-open session: 9:00-9:15 AM
- Closed on exchange holidays and weekends
Commodities (MCX)
- ~9:00 AM - 11:30 PM IST, Monday to Friday
- Much longer session — great for practising after work. See MCX paper trading.
After hours
When the market is closed, prices show the last traded value and don't move. Charts, positions and the option chain still work — you're just seeing frozen prices until the next session. If something looks stuck during hours, see prices not updating.
