Why can't I place a trade? Common reasons
If a Buy/Sell won't go through on Nifty Paper Trade, here are the usual reasons — Pro not active, market closed, or insufficient virtual funds — and the fixes.
If a Buy/Sell won't go through, it's almost always one of these — each has a quick fix.
1. Pro isn't active
Placing trades requires the one-time Pro unlock. A free account can explore and view live data but not trade. Fix: upgrade to Pro (₹999, lifetime).
2. The market is closed
Orders need a live price. Equities trade 9:15 AM-3:30 PM; commodities to ~11:30 PM — see market hours. Outside hours, some order types are limited.
3. Not enough virtual cash / margin
If your free balance can't cover the premium or margin, the order is rejected. Fix: reduce lots, or add virtual cash.
4. No live price on that strike
A far, illiquid strike may lack a tradable price. Pick a nearer strike, or check the option chain.
